Agri SA is an agricultural representative organisation that is committed to the development of agriculture in South Africa. We are a non-profit organisation that is helping to develop a stable, profitable agricultural environment within this country.
Agri SA participates in a variety of policy discussions that impact specific commodities, or the industry in broad. As part of our advocacy efforts, we collect and disseminate relevant information on the sector in order to contribute to policy discussions in an efficient and transparent manner. This report is intended to serve as a handy guide to the various commodities in South Africa and also to showcase the economic contribution and potential for further growth and job creation each has. Various sources were consulted during the composition of this report such as the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Statistics SA. Due to the nature in which data is captured by different commodity organisations, there are some gaps in the data. We hope this report attracts positive attention to agriculture and spurs young people and students to consider a career in agriculture.
