Data has been essential to farmers’ work for generations. Weather patterns, historical crop yield data and market information all helps to inform their planting cycle, treatment and watering plans. Farmers have also been many of the first technology “early adopters,” in many parts of the world, enabling them do their job with greater efficiency.

There’s little doubt that sustainable agriculture is the only way forward if we are to continue to produce food for generations to come.  Over the past several decades, digital technologies have had a profound impact on our daily lives and businesses.

Aided by significant advancements in technology, farming innovation really began to pick up during the second half of the 20th century and into the beginning of the 21st century.
