Western Cape-based fruit farming company United Exports has signed a €14m loan deal with international lenders, which will be used to boost sustainable blueberry production in SA. United Exports, which focuses on the export of a wide range of fruit including blueberries, grapes and pears, said the funding provided by global development institutions — the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank (FMO) — would help expand its operations and create more than 1,300 direct and indirect jobs by 2030. The industry employs about 40,000 people and generates more than R1.2bn in export revenue annually.

Ons het in Suid Afrika baie suksevolle standvastige mense wat werklik die land kan omdraai as hulle die geleentheid kry, maar op die oomblik word ons beheer deur 'n regering wat net nie die vemoee ooit gehad het of sal he om Suid Afrika weer op te bou en rykdom te skep nie. Voor daar nie wet en orde in die land is nie kan niks vooruit gaan nie. Dis dalk tyd dat jy sosiale media en sy "addictive" mense vir oomblik verlaat en die werklikheid in die oe kyk en die mense om jou geniet. Daar is baie inligting beskikbaar op die internet wat baie meer waarde gaan bied aan jou lewe as sosiale media. En as jy jou produk op sosiale media bemark, dan is dit dalk om dit te heroorweeg-Daar is te veel negatiewe inligting.
What complicates the matter in South Africa is the accelerating phenomenon of state failure, a process whereby organs of state implode to such an extent that they lose all executive capability. Nominally, they and their rules still exist, but in practice they have ceased to be of consequence.
